The Arcadia School Taps Into Apple Tech

Dubai’s The Arcadia School brings learning to life with hi-tech teaching platform – and sets its sights on becoming an Apple Distinguished School

Dubai, UAE Gone are the days of schoolchildren facing the blackboard and relying solely upon pencil and paper during class time. In today’s modern educational landscape, classrooms are more likely to feature interactive white boards; teachers may use the Internet to augment lessons while students are au fait with the use of IT to prepare and submit assignments.

Always at the forefront of innovation, The Arcadia School – which is set to open in Dubai’s Jumeriah Village Triangle in September 2016 – has announced it will use Apple technology exclusively for all of its teaching, learning and administrative tools, putting the ground-breaking educational institute on track to become an Apple Distinguished School.

The Apple Distinguished School designation is accorded to programmes that meet criteria for innovation, leadership and educational excellence, and demonstrate a clear vision of exemplary learning environments. Embracing an all-Apple platform means The Arcadia School’s teachers will be provided with the latest technology and will receive ongoing, high-quality professional development. Students meanwhile will benefit from the one-to-one iPad programme which will support interactive learning and provide the basis for the delivery of the school’s English curriculum.

“We are very excited at the prospect of The Arcadia School taking on a visionary role in the use of technology to enhance teaching methods and learning accessibility,” says Principal Graham Beale.

“In aspiring to become an Apple Distinguished School we are creating unique opportunities for personal learning at every level within the school, from Foundation Stage One right through to Key Stage Two. Lessons will be more dynamic, interactive and immersive via the power of touch, motion and sound; while students’ assignments can be sketched, scored, charted, coded or even performed, all of which opens up new opportunities for learning and creativity,” adds Beale.

About The Arcadia School

The Arcadia School, located in Dubai’s Jumeirah Village Triangle, offers the National Curriculum for England to students studying from the Early Years Foundation Stage (FS1) to Key Stage 2 (Year 6). The community-focused school opened in August 2016 and aspires to be one of the leading British primary schools in the world by instilling into students a lifelong passion for learning, and by nurturing innovation and the pursuit of excellence amongst the teaching staff.

The Arcadia School is the first in a series of community-based schools delivering the vision of Mohan Valrani and the Al Shirawi Group. As the Chairman of the school, Valrani is an avid believer in providing the very best education for future generations.

Believing that a school’s greatest asset is its teachers, the group is building The Arcadia House, a dedicated accommodation facility within JVT for school staff. By offering the enhanced benefit of quality housing, the school is investing fully in its teachers’ happiness and wellbeing thereby encouraging them to aspire to excellence within the classroom.

The curriculum at the school is backed up by the Talk for Writing program from the UK. Talk for Writing enables children to imitate the key language they need for a particular topic orally before they try reading and analysing it.

Future Dubai-based schools for Arcadia Group include The Arcadia Senior School, also in Jumeirah Village Triangle; and The Arcadia Primary and Secondary School in Jebel Ali.
