The website age calculator should use 31 December 2027 as the age cut-off date for new admissions in AY 2027–2028, based on the age policy introduced from AY 2026–2027 onwards. The Ministry of Education (MOE) published guidance confirms the new cut-off and the corresponding British curriculum entry stages. The latest KHDA school registration FAQs also confirm that the new cut-off applies to new registrations, while students already enrolled continue on their approved educational pathway.

Year 2 6 years 2021

The birth-year mapping above is calculated from the published age requirements, assuming the policy remains unchanged for AY 2027–2028.

  • FS1 to Year 2: For new admissions, calculate the child's age as of 31 December in the relevant academic-year cut-off year, subject to the applicable KHDA eligibility rules.
  • Year 3 and above: Do not assign a year group based on age alone. Placement should follow the student's Transfer Certificate (TC), successfully completed year group, previous educational history and applicable equivalency requirements.
  • Existing students: Students already enrolled should continue on their approved educational pathway. The new-admission age cut-off should not automatically change their current year group.
  • Exceptional placements: Any advancement, retention or grade adjustment must follow the applicable KHDA approval process.

Age eligibility shown by this calculator is a guide for new admissions to the listed entry stages only and is subject to current KHDA requirements. Placement in Year 3 and above is determined by the student's Transfer Certificate, previous educational history and applicable equivalency requirements. Existing students remain on their approved educational pathway. Please contact the Admissions team for confirmation before submitting an application.
