The Arcadia School Teams Up With ‘7billionideas’ To Offer The Region’s First Entrepreneur-In-Residence School Programme
The Arcadia School is set to become the first primary school in the Middle East to roll out an “Entrepreneur-in-Residence” programme with the international ideas company ‘7billionideas’
July 2016, DUBAI – Aiming to become one of the leading British primary schools in the region, The Arcadia School, located in Jumeirah Village Triangle, is now looking to inspire and teach young children the basics of entrepreneurship with the international ideas company ‘7billionideas’.
Set to open in August 2016, the school aspires to instill a lifelong passion for learning by nurturing innovation. In this pursuit, The Arcadia School has formed an official partnership with the UK based programme, ‘7billionideas’ to offer an “Entrepreneur-in-Residence” programme. The Arcadia School will be the first school in the Middle East to work in partnership with the 7billionideas team.
‘7billionideas’ is an ideas company which exists to connect the 7billion people on the planet with their own ideas. They do this via their social media platform, corporate training arm and their education offerings under their 7billeducation arm. 7billeducation exists to inspire students to think big and dream big about the possibility of their ideas, while developing key life skills to help students act on their ideas. 7billeducation has worked with over 50,000 students in the last 4 academic years and due to their fantastic work they proudly have relationships in place with education organisations in the UK such as United Learning and Creative Education Academies Trust to name a couple. Our students will be given the unique opportunity to learn from seasoned entrepreneurs and collaborate with experts to bring their own ideas to fruition.
David Harkin, CEO of 7billionideas said, ‘We couldn’t be more excited about partnering with the Arcadia School in working with their students. We believe every school has a responsibility to unlock the entrepreneurial DNA which exists in every student and that begins from the moment they join a school. We look forward to doing our bit in inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs in Dubai at the school.’
Valrani explained that the initiative will be implemented for all students from Year 1 and upwards and will allow students to dream big about the possibility of their ideas. Each activity within the initiative is designed to develop teamwork, presentation, public speaking and listening skills by combining idea generation and development.
“Parents will also have workshops designed specifically for them. We really aim to get everybody from the Arcadia family involved,” said Dr. Navin. He added: “New possibilities will be explored and none of us yet know what the children will come up with, which really is all part of the excitement!”
About The Arcadia School
The Arcadia School, located in Dubai’s Jumeirah Village Triangle, offers the National Curriculum for England to students studying from the Early Years Foundation Stage (FS1) to Key Stage 2 (Year 6). The community-focused school opened in August 2016 and aspires to be one of the leading British primary schools in the world by instilling into students a lifelong passion for learning, and by nurturing innovation and the pursuit of excellence amongst the teaching staff.
The Arcadia School is the first in a series of community-based schools delivering the vision of Mohan Valrani and the Al Shirawi Group. As the Chairman of the school, Valrani is an avid believer in providing the very best education for future generations.
Believing that a school’s greatest asset is its teachers, the group is building The Arcadia House, a dedicated accommodation facility within JVT for school staff. By offering the enhanced benefit of quality housing, the school is investing fully in its teachers’ happiness and wellbeing thereby encouraging them to aspire to excellence within the classroom.
The Arcadia School’s curriculum includes a unique Enrichment Learning Programme (ELP) – an all inclusive programme, based on an extended school day – that complements the core curriculum, providing dynamic and diverse activities and rich learning opportunities for students, including in-class homework support. The ELP is provided at no extra cost to parents and is a core aspect of the school’s values and ethos, where lifelong learning is nurtured. In addition, the school is offering specialist support for English as an Additional Language (EAL) as part of the core curriculum for those students whose native language is not English. These extra curricular activities are offered at no extra cost to the parent.
Future Dubai-based schools for Arcadia Group include The Arcadia Senior School, also in Jumeirah Village Triangle; and The Arcadia Primary and Secondary School in Jebel Ali.
